Started out the morning having breakfast at Dona Trinys as the rain poured down. Then a long walk on the beach during which I swam several times. Then of course my afternoon cappucino. Back at Daphne and Miki's doing my final packing for Cuba. I am on the 10 thirty pm flight arriving a little after midnight. Only an hour away! Before I leave for good, however, I am off for my tofu enchiladas with mole!

Saturday

Had a wonderful day today with Daphne and Miki. After a wonderful breakfast, Daphne and I walked around the Colonia. Later we went into Puerto Morelos and saw James Sweeney of The Men in Blues. We walked the beach and then headed back to "su casa" for some chips and guacamole. After a siesta, we met Linda and Jill at Habaneros. The music was rockin' and the beer was flowing....The full moon added a special touch.

International Jazz Festival, Havana , Cuba

So excited! I am off today for Puerto Morelos and then to Cuba on Sunday! I went 21 years ago, just as the Soviet Union had pulled out. I imagine, with all the tourists, it will be very different. I am going with a group of 15, all of us signed up with the organization, Global Exchange. We will be staying at the Hotel Victoria in Havana, mostly to experience the International Jazz Festival. Before leaving for Havana, I will be staying with my friends Miki and Daphne in the colonia of Puerto Morelos for 2 days.
